Third historic mistake: Owaisi on ending special status of J&K

New Delhi: All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi today participating in a debate on the Jammu and Kashmir reorganisation bill. Launching a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government over its move to end special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Owaisi called the move as “third historic mistake”.

Owaisi accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of breaching a constitutional promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by granting special status under Article 370.

Referring to security clampdown in the Kashmir Valley Owaisi said, “Your MPs are saying this is Diwali. Then why not let all Kashmiris come out and celebrate.” Saying that the Muslim festival Baqra’eid falls on Monday, the Hyderabad MP asked, “What will happen on Eid? Eid is on Monday.
