Things you should never say to someone over 50

There are certain phrases or words that one might have said kindly to someone over 50, but some things are better left unsaid.

For instance, a seemingly naive enough remark – “Hey, you look tired!” — can be a startling and at times obnoxious reminder of one’s age.

Now, Huffington Post has compiled a list of things, with the help of their Facebook followers, that you should avoid saying to someone over 50.

One user, Cheryl De Primio posted on the social networking site that she got furious recently when a waitress condescendingly called her ‘young lady’.

A Stephanie LaFortune wrote that she just doesn’t care what anyone says to her or about her and that is the beauty of being over 50.

Telling someone “you should really learn to act your age” is a big no-no.

Facebook fan Debbie Gregorio Sottile notes that when people say “You look good for your age”, they should probably leave out “for your age” part.

Actress Marianne Curan, 52, insists that people should stop calling her ‘Ma’am’ because it feels like they are saying ‘Hey, aging lady with a coupon for chocolate calcium chews who’s buying Fresca and writing a check, how are you today?’ (ANI)
