Hyderabad, November 15: Thieves broke into the State Bank of India branch at Shivarampally and tried to break open the ATM there in the wee hours of Sunday. They fled when sounds alerted the locals. This was the second attempt in a fortnight.
Around 2 a.m. locals residing near the bank woke up to sounds from the bank and raised an alarm. Alerted by the locals, police reached there immediately and searched the surroundings but could not trace the miscreants.
Police said the unidentified assailants gained entry into the building through a broken grill that leads into the dining hall of the bank. They said unidentified miscreants had cut the same window grill and entered the bank a fortnight back. But the grill was not repaired by the bank authorities till now, making the work of the offenders easy.
