NEW DELHI: Mosque-goers at the Madrasa Das ul Uloom Faridiya, where an eight-year-old Mohammad Azeem was beaten to death in scuffle over playing space claimed they were pelted with stones by residents of an adjacent colony on Friday evening, reported Indian Express.
“On Friday, a large crowd kicked the door down and overwhelmed the police. Some of us went to speak to them but they pelted stones at us,” alleged Maulana Ali Johar, the Imam at the mosque.
“Mumtaz and his wife Shabana, and Liaqat Ali, his wife Saroj and their daughter sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The quarrel is reportedly over a route,” said DCP (south) Vijay Singh.
To limit tension between the two communities, a temporary door had been put up last month. A vacant land in front of the madrasa is the root cause of the scuffle as the masjid claimed it belongs to it whereas the residents of the colony say it is public.

On October 26, Azeem, a native of Mewat in Haryana died after sustaining an internal injury on his head following a scuffle between two groups of minor boys in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.
After the fight, the minor victim who studied and lived in the madrasa was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Four minor boys of the Valmiki Colony, a slum adjacent to the mosque are suspected to have been involved in the incident, have been apprehended and booked
