Panaji: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today rued a lack of “proper discussions” on legislations on the floor of the House and called for improvement in that.
“There are no proper discussions on the legislations. I am not blaming anyone. I feel that there should be improvement in the way there are discussions being held on the floor of the House,” Parrikar said while distributing land documents to the villagers of Mayem in Goa.
He said the legislators have restricted their work to provide jobs, construct roads and supply water.
“Undoubtedly these things are needed to be done but the prime work of the legislator is to make laws,” he added.
Parrikar said once laws were properly drafted, people tend to benefit from it.
He credited himself for the drafting of several laws during his tenure as Goa chief minister.
