Mathura:A case of theft from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) pipeline between Mathura and Jalandhar has been unearthed, an official said today.
Acting on a report of “product loss” yesterday, leakage detection system was enforced by the authorities which spotted the theft area, Mathura-Jalandhar, Pipeline Manager Virendra Kumar said.
Following this, physical verification of the line was done and the point from which the oil was being sucked out was unearthed on Kotban-Dahgaon road, Kumar said.
While, earlier temporary clamp was fitted onto the pipeline with nut and bolt for sucking oil, this time a valve had been permanently welded, he said.
The valve has been taken off and line repaired, he said.
An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the IPC, the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines Act, Kumar said.
An estimate of the amount lost in the incident is being carried out and would be ascertained after verifying product dispatched and reached, he said.
