Tharoor had little choice other than issuing statement seeking Sunanda’s death probe: Swamy

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said that Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had little choice other than issuing a statement today demanding a thorough probe into his wife, Sunanda Pushkar’s death case.

“Well he has no alternative because it has to come after the affidavit of Dr.Gupta to the CAT. There are many unsolved questions; ‘Murder’ took place on January 16th and till today we have no idea what the police is doing ; they have been sitting on it? Therefore an urgent enquiry is necessary and he knows it that is inevitable and that is why he is putting up a brave front,” he said.

“But I think let us understand there are two possible clues that has to be chased. First his own role to try to get his wife’s body cremated within 24 hours, his whereabouts before and after that. Also IPL would have meant that the son-in-law of a very high political authority should be involved. If you know that in IPL Kochi there was involvement, therefore all these things make it necessary to have an SIT,” he added.

Swamy, had earlier sent a legal notice to the government to expedite investigation into the mysterious death of lawmaker Shashi Tharoor’s wife, alleging involvement of few politicians.

Earlier today, Dr. Sudhir Gupta of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) claimed that he was’ pressurized to give a doctored autopsy report after Sunanda Pushkar’s death’.

His reported statement has however been denied by the All India Institutte of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Gupta headed the team of experts who conducted the post-mortem on Pushkar’s body. He has alleged in his complaint to the Health Ministry and the Chief Vigilance Commission (CVC) that he was pressured by top officials to show that Pushkar’s death was ‘natural’.

Sunanda Pushkar , 52, was found dead in her hotel room in Leela Palace in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on January 17 this year.

Sunanda was embroiled in a spat with the Pakistan-based journalist, Mehr Tarar, whom she accused of stalking her husband in a series of Twitter posts. (ANI)
