Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday dubbed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as ‘narrow-minded’.
Tharoor also accused the BJP of ‘dividing people on the lines of religion’.
“There is a perception that the BJP, in any case, will turn the elections towards religious polarisation if not now than closer to the election dates,” Tharoor told ANI.
The MP from Thiruvananthapuram said that the Congress party helmed by Rahul Gandhi makes efforts to strategically resolve matters existing in the country.
“Congress always tries to be away from the issue of religion because that serves the BJP’s interest”, Tharoor.
He further pointed fingers at the Central Government for failing to fulfil its promises such as controlling inflation, resolving agricultural crises etc.
The Congress leader also asserted that in the upcoming elections the electorates will not vote for the ruling party because of the stagnant economic growth, rising fuel prices of food products and collapse of export and manufacturing.(ANI)
