Thane , Dec 05: A Shahapur businessman was shot dead by three unidentified persons at his factory in Adgaon industrial area on Friday night.
Nandan Singh Khair (59), the owner of Alka Steels and Plastic Company, was killed by three armed persons – two of who are absconding. A case of murder was registered at the Shahapur police station.
Around 8 pm on Friday, the three accused, carrying country-made revolvers, came to the company. They were stopped at the gate by the deceased’s son Shailesh Singh (28).
Shailesh saw that they were armed and asked them what they wanted. But the accused insisted on meeting his father, said the police.
When Shailesh told his father about the armed assailants, his father said: “I have seen many such revolvers.” “Khair immediately snatched the revolver from one of the accused and shot at him.
Another accused then opened fire at him. Despite a bullet piercing his left arm, Khair still managed to throw a chopper at the injured accused.
The other two accused fled from the spot,” said Shahapur’s senior police inspector Shivnath Shinde.
