Thai Man Holds His Wife Hostage At Knifepoint During Stand-Off With Police

Sakdawut Hamsiri, a crazy knifeman, held his terrified wife Thawee Naiyanit hostage for nearly six hours by holding a 10-inch blade to her throat.

The drama went on for six hours in Bangkok, as he ignored repeated pleas from police to let her go.

Sakdawut, police believe, was under the influence of drugs.

The man, with blood from minor cuts running down his arm, held her hostage.

As a shocked crowd gathered to watch the dramatic stand-off, police tried to negotiate with the Hamsiri, 30, to let the woman go unharmed.

But when he repeatedly refused their requests, officers were forced to electrocute the man by using a Taser gun on him.

A Thai police officer is said to have waited until Hamsiri turned away, before firing the Taser at him to subdue the knifeman.

Hamsiri was then arrested and taken to a police station for questioning. His partner is said to have had minor cuts, but was otherwise unharmed.

Thai police said they were likely to charge Hamsiri with drug use and holding a person against her will.
