(Siasat News)Shiv Sena supreme Bal Thackeray, through party’s mouthpiece ’Saamna’, said that the new president should immediately reject Afzal Guru’s mercy plea. Shiva Sena went against NDA to back Pranab Mukherjee in presidential poll.
Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday was elected as 13th President of India defeating PA Sangma by getting 69 percent votes.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Sunday congratulated Pranab Mukherjee and said that it is not only the victory of UPA but also NDA constituent like Shiv Sena, he thanked Shiv Sena for voting Pranab Mukherjee.
The President’s office had received 27 mercy petition’s of which 10 are converted to life imprisonment, 3 are rejected and 14 other are pending but Bal Thackery is only interested in Afzal Guru’s mercy plea. He asked newly elected President to reject immediately Afzal Guru’s mercy plea.
