Mumbai, September 07: Citing the incident of damage to Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj’s poster in Miraj town of Sangli district, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today alleged the government is adopting a Muslim appeasement policy by not punishing the miscreants who were behind the incident.
”On one hand, you plan to construct Shivaji memorial in Mumbai and on the other you try to destroy his history. In the proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji Memorial in Arabian Sea, there should be a picture of Shivaji killing Afzal Khan, the same picture which was damaged in Miraj,” Mr Thackeray said in an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ”Saamana”.
He said by seizing the poster, the police have proved that they were Afzal Khan’s progeny. ”Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj punished Afzal Khan and Shahistekhan as they were the enemies of ‘Swarajya’. How would you remove the history? What happened in Miraj is terrible and an insult to Chhatrapati Shivaji,” Mr Thackeray said. Mr Thackeray said, ”The administration is like the Mughals, the orders are of Afzal Khan and progeny of Aurangzeb. The violence created by Muslims in Miraj and Marol on the occasion of Ganesh immersion is terrorising. In Marol, Ganesh devotees kept restraint even after stone-pelting by Muslims on a Ganesh immersion procession. Later, police arrested these devotees and filed cases.
Which kind of justice is this? Whose appeasement is this? On whose orders this is going on?” The culprits behind the stone-pelting are still at large, he said.
”I appeal all Shivaji lovers to display replicas of Shivaji killing Afzal Khan everywhere and keep his history afresh,” Mr Thackeray added.
