Thachankary got stay order by suppresing facts: Govt

Kochi, May 03: The Kerala Government today stated before the High Court that Senior IPS officer Tomin J Thachankary had secured an interim stay of his suspension from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) by suppresing material facts. The State Government had filed a writ petition challenging the CAT order staying the suspension of IG Thachankary. Mr Thachankary was suspended for undertaking a foreign trip without government sanction. The government alleged Mr Thachankary had filed false statements before the tribunal. A letter dated March 31, produced before the tribunal, was actually sent on April 17 to the DGP. The government also stated he was a habitual offender in the case of unauthorised foreign tours and last year also there was a proceeding against him for undertaking unauthorised foreign tours.

Then also he was informed he would not be treated lightly the next time. The allegation of Mr Thachankary that no action was taken in the case of other erring officials like Mr P C Sanalkumar IAS and Ms Sreelekha IPS was also false as there were proceedings against them for undertaking foreign tours. The vacation Bench of the High Court would probably consider the case tomorrow.
