Hyderabad: Telangana finance minister Harish Rao in the state assembly on Thursday announced that the government will soon fill up 50,000 vacancies and also approved the retirement age enhancement bill of the government staff in Telangana. The retirement age of the government employees in the state has been raised from 58 years to 60 years.
The finance minister contended that the increase in the retirement age will not hurt the job prospects of the unemployed youth. “Notifications for these vacancies will be announced soon,” he said.
“Vacancies will be created by promoting the employees. The CM has already directed for the recruitment of 50,000 vacant posts in the state and a notification of the same will be issued soon,” he added.
The Telangana Public Employment (Regulation of age of superannuation) Amendment Bill 2021 was later passed by the House.
Stating the reason behind the move to increase the retirement age, he said the idea was to utilize the experience of the senior employees. “The life span has gone up because of better medical facilities,” he said, defending the Government move.
