Job Summary:
Dell Data protection group is looking for a hands-on engineering manager to join their data protection QA team.
You will be responsible for managing Quality Engineering team involved in qualification of, and owning key areas of, the Dells Data protection Software products. Oversees software release QA by applying best practices of Application Lifecycle Management methodologies in coordination with other departments such us development engineering, Technical support and Product management.
The role requires that you work closely with the team in the design of test strategies, developing test cases, execution and reporting findings in one or more technical areas of the product such as: Backup, File System layer, Networking, Data Compression, Performance, System Management, Data management and Cloud.
Job Responsibilities:
As the QA manager, you will be demonstrating broad knowledge of the data protection software products, drives the strategy and successful execution of quality product releases.
Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.
Responsible for career development/ planning, performance and pay discussions of team members.
Oversees the delivery of products within budget, schedule and quality guidelines.
Developing the test plan and test execution of new products / features.
Working with other engineers to solve functionality and usability issues.
Debug complex technical issues so as to isolate or narrow down the root cause
Find performance bottlenecks and generate comparative / benchmark data
Develop automation for the test cases (including framework changes and reusable code)
Work quickly and efficiently in finding technical issues
Work with the customer support group as needed to resolve/ recreate issues
Gathers business requirements and participates in product definition and feature prioritization, including customer usability studies. Performs competitive analysis for features at a product level scope.
Reviews requirements, specifications and designs to assure product quality; develops and implements plans and tests for product quality or performance assurance.
Influences product development teams to engineer for better testability and supportability of the products.

Doctorate:Any Doctorate – Any Specialization, Doctorate Not Required
Qualifications:
Hands on experience working on Linux/ Windows based systems; storage systems preferred, Windows systems experience is highly desirable.
Excellent knowledge of either networking, clustering, system management or file systems
Good understanding of operating system fundamentals such as: virtual memory, process scheduling, VFS, multi-threaded programming, etc.
Good understanding of File systems and experience testing the file systems and layers above file systems.
Working experience of backup applications testing (Data Management applications like Backup Exec, Commvault, NBU etc)
Working experience with application testing like Exchange, SQL etc.
Desire and ability to trace out bugs through methodical as well as innovative methods
Must have the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast pace environment.
Track record of being a key contributor at previous companies
Early stage start-up experience is a plus
Good C, Perl programming skills, leverages programing (c / perl / python / etc) to efficiently automate / test.
4 year Engineering degree in CS, ECE or related field, Post Graduation preferred
Minimum 12 years of experience with 6 years of management/ leadership experience.
