Terrorists arrested in W Iran operation

Tehran, April 05: Iranian security forces have arrested eight terrorists after they swooped on a house in the west of the country belonging to Salafi elements.

The house was located in a rural area in the city of Sanandaj in Kordistan province.

A huge stash of weapons and ammunition was seized during the operation, local sources told our correspondent.

The explosives were enough to destroy half of Sanandaj, our correspondent says.

Earlier, Iranian Border Guard Commander Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaghari announced that clashes had broken out between Iranian armed forces and terrorists in western Iran over the past days.

Four Iranian troops were killed and another five wounded in one of the clashes near the border city of Marivan in Kordistan Friday night.

The top general said evidence on the ground lays the blame on PJAK terrorist group.

“Clashes erupted after PJAK terrorists attempted to take our border guards’ post,” Zolfaghari told Press TV.

“The clashes lasted 45 minutes, during which a number of our colleagues were killed and injured. Four PJAK terrorists were also killed and wounded, and left behind one of their weapons,” he added.

Meanwhile, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ (IRGC) Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said IRGC forces killed two militants involved in earlier terrorist attacks which also took place in western Iran on March 24.
