Terror suspect who faked his death lived in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, October 09: A Mumbai-based terror suspect who faked his death and lived in Hyderabad was recently arrested by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad.

According to sources, Syed Musaddiq Wahiduddin Qadri alias Imran Hasni, an alleged associate of Jalees Ansari, stayed in Golconda area for seven years in the guise of a perfume seller. Ansari is an accused in many blasts across the country between 1989 and 1994.

Qadri, the sources said, brutally killed his friend Saleem seven years ago, burnt his body to make it look like his body. The Saleem murder case was registered with Thane police.

Qadri was first arrested along with Ansari on January 14, 1994. He was acquitted in 1998 and then formed a gang of robbers against which there are five cases. On August 15, 2003 the police recovered a headless and charred body from an apartment on Mira Road and it was identified as Qadri’s body by his wife and brother.

Qadri then moved to Hyderabad and stayed at Secunderabad for some time. Later, he settled down in Arab Basti in Golconda. He used to sell perfume (attar) near mosques in the Old City. “As of now, there are no indications that Qadri was involved in any crime in Hyderabad. However, the city police are probing whether he has any terror connection”, the sources said.

Recently, when Qadri went to visit his relatives in Mumbai the ATS sleuths on a tip off arrested him. The police recovered a .32 mm pistol, a magazine and five live rounds from him. They also recovered an election identification card issued in Hyderabad in the name of Imran Hasni and also a driving license in the same name.
