Terror group HuJI email link traced to J&K: Report

New Delhi, September 08: Security officials have traced the origin of the HuJI email, claiming responsibity for the Delhi High Court blast on Wednesday, to Jammu and Kashmir, media reports.

The email was received by different media organisations on Wednesday allegedly from Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) and said that the group took responsibility for the blasts which killed 11 people and injured over 70. HuJI is a outlawed Bangladesh-based terrorist group with a base in Pakistan too.

“We owe the responsibility of todays blasts at high court delhi….. our demand is that Afzal Guru’s death sentence should be repealede immediately else we would target major high courts & the Supreme Court of India,” the HuJI email said.

Mohammed Afzal Guru, a Kashmiri, was sentenced to death in 2004 and is currently on death row for his role in the attack on the Parliament in December 2001. His mercy petition that asks for his sentence to be commuted to life is pending with President Pratibha Patil.

Secretary (Internal Secretary) in the Home Ministry, U K Bansal told reporters on Wednesday, “National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken up the investigations and has deployed a team of 20 officers to go into various aspects of the investigations. NIA is also verifying the authenticity of the email received by two media channels namely Aaj Tak and NDTV here.”

He said that detailed forensic examination was going on.
