Tension before R.R dist. Court; Eggs hurled at judges

Agitating lawyers demonstrating in front of the Ranga Reddy District Court demanding the setting up of a separate High Court for the new state of Telangana, on Friday created a commotion by hurling eggs while some judges tried to make their way into the court premises.

A group of lawyers organized the protest demonstration by squatting on the road before the court premises. They closed the gates and prevented the clients, lawyers and even judges from entering the premises. The agitating lawyers shouted slogans demanding creation of a new High Court for Telangana State.

When the judges tried to persuade for allowing them to enter inside, the agitating lawyers stoutly refused and shouted slogans. At one stage some stones were hurled at those trying to enter the court premises. Even some eggs were hurled at the judges. Though the eggs did not hit the judges, they landed on their vehicles.

As the situation became tense and was going out of control, the local police summoned additional forces. When the police failed to make the lawyers to maintain restraint and allow those wanting to attend to court work failed, force was used to bring the situation under control.

The agitating lawyers were arrested and whisked away forcibly in vehicles to pave way for the smooth functioning of the court. (NSS).
