Tension in Karbala area after clash

New Delhi: Tension prevailed in south Delhi’s Karbala area where members of Trust Anjman-e-Haideri and residents of neighbouring BK Dutt Colony clashed last night.

Extra police personnel were today deployed in the area where stonepelting had occurred after members of the Trust, which manages the Karbala land, allegedly erected a barrier at the site which is adjacent to the boundary of the colony.

In the clashes yesterday, two people were injured and some vehicles were damaged. A case under IPC sections for rioting has been registered and police deployment stepped up in the area to maintain law and order situation, police said.

Residents alleged that even though there is a police post located close to the spot, the police personnel fled as soon as the stonepelting started. They alleged that repeated calls to the Lodhi colony police station also went unanswered.

They also claimed that the police arrived late but the police denied the allegations.
