Hyderabad, December 09: Tense and anxious moments were witnsessed at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) where TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has been continuing his indefinite fast for 11 days demanding formation of Telangana State.
Several party leaders including Nayani Narasimha Reddy broke down after knowing that their fasting leader’s health was deteriorating.
A large number of Telangana activists and political leaders visited the hospital.
The TRS chief ’s family members and leaders of other parties went to the ICU and requested him to call off his fast considering doctors’ advice but Rao did not heed them. Politburo members continued their efforts till late in the evening to make their leader call off his hunger strike.
They expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Rao and warned the government that if anything happened to him it would have to take responsibility for it.
A large number of women activists, who visited the NIMS, raised slogans denouncing the government and the chief Minister.
While speaking to the media persons several leaders including Nayani Narsimha Reddy broke down.
They said the State Government and the Congress party were playing with Telangana people’s sentiments.
TRS Politburo member B Vinod appealed to people to cont inue the movement leaving no scope for violence.
