New Delhi : Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has come in support of the Indian cricket team after their heart wrenching seven-wicket defeat against West Indies in the second semifinal of the World T20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.
The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-side failed to carry on their momentum from their previous two victories and saw them getting knocked out of the T20 format’s pinnacle event.
The Master Blaster took to Twitter saying, “Tough luck boys. It was a good match and well fought! Best wishes to West Indies and England for the finals. #IndvsWI #WT20.”
Earlier, India put up a great batting display and posted a daunting 193-run target for the Windies. Star batsman Virat Kohli, once again rose to the occasion, and smashed an 89-run inning to help the hosts post a formidable target after put in bat first.
However, West Indies relied on Lendl Simmons (82 not out), Jonathan Charles (52) and some late flourish from all-rounder Andre Russell to cross the finishing line with two balls to spare.
With the win, 2012 champions West Indies have set up a summit clash against 2010 champions England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. (ANI)
