Alleging that the State government has totally failed to implement Tenant Farmers’ Protection Act due to which farmers were committing suicides, TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram lamented that tenant farmers were accumulating huge losses for want of Tenant Farmers’ Loan Eligibility cards, Agriculture loans and crop loss compensation.
Participating in Praja Darbar organized by Rythu Swarajya Vedika at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram, Bagh Lingampally here today, Prof. Kodandaram alleged the families of farmers, who committed suicides fell in neck-deep debts due to non-profitable farming and were meted out gross injustice in getting ex gratia.
Akhila Bharata Kisan Sabha vice-president Sarampally Malla Reddy, retired IAS officer Gopalarao, people’s organizations’ leaders Seetha Mahalaxmi, Jeevan Kumar and others participated in the program. The victims narrated their tales of woe at the meeting due to endowment lands, podu cultivation by tribals besides the problems of tenant farmers. The victims explained about the problems they were facing in field level like extension systems, bank loans, insurance, subsidies and the problems from the Revenue department.
Prof. Kodandaram assured the victims that the TJAC would strive to solve their problems by bringing the problems to the notice of the State government. (NSS)
