A local court today sentenced two persons to 10 years in jail for abducting and gang-raping a 14-year-old girl four years ago. Holding the accused Aftab and Alishan guilty of abduction and rape, Additional District Sessions Judge Chandra Bhushan Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the two, Public Prosecutor Yashpal Singh said. The girl was abducted from Malhupura locality here on February 16, 2008 and was recovered from the accused 17 days later, Yashpal said, adding that victim’s medical examination had confirmed rape. Five persons were put on trial in the case but three of them were acquitted due to lack of evidence. PTI
