Midnapur, April 11: Ten Congress supporters were today injured when they were attacked during an election meeting in West Midnapur district, police said.
Police said lathi-wielding miscreants attacked the supporters who were attending a meeting at Karangapota village at noon, injuring ten persons.
While the condition of five persons was stated to be serious at Midnapur Medical College and Hospital, the rest were released after first-aid.
Congress candidate Rajani Kanta Doloi complained to the police that CPI(M) cadre had carried out the attack. He questioned how such an incident occured despite the presence of adequate police personnel at the venue.
