The Banking sector will remain paralysed on August 22 and 23 across the country.
All India Banks Association secretary Vishwas Uthagi has said that 10 lakh employees from 27 nationalised banks, 12 private banks and eight foreign banks would go on strike on August 22 and 23 opposing reforms in Banking sector, outsourcing of bank jobs and Khandelwal Committee recommendations.
He alleged that the Union government was trying to weaken the public sector in the country. He also alleged that the Centre was trying to bring a Bill to allow foreign and private investment, merger of banks and unlimited voting rights to board members in the banking sector. He alleged that the Central government was trying to hand over the government and private banks to corporate sector. (NSS)
