Ten injured in lathicharge on students

Rajhasthan, August 17: At least ten persons, including four lensmen from print and electronic media, were injured today when police resorted to lathicharge to prevent a crowd of agitating university students from marching to the residences of the Governor and Chief Minister despite prohibitory orders in force in the area.

A large number of Rajasthan University students led by one Naresh Meena took out a “Yuva Kranti Rally” in buses in support of their eleven-point charter of demands including ST quota, hostel and better education facilities, SP (South) Jose Mohan said.

Due to prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC in force in the civil lines where the two residences are located, a delegation of five students only was allowed to meet the officials, the SP said.
