Temporary permission for unrecognised schools

Hyderabad, July 01: Keeping in view the future of students, the State government on Wednesday relaxed the AP Educational Institutions Rules permitting unrecognised private schools in the state to operate for the academic year of 2010-11. The decision comes as a boon for the private schools which are operating without recognition from the state government. The unrecognised private schools will be granted temporary permission for the academic year of 2010-11.

As per the AP Educational Institutions Rules, all private schools should obtain recognition from the state government prior to commencement of the academic year. However, hundreds of private schools are being operated without official permission.

Observing that academic future of thousands of students will be in danger in case of closure of these schools, the state government relaxed norms for the current academic year as a special case. However, the private schools need to fulfill the conditions furnished by the state government.

The management of the private schools which are running without permission or recognition should submit applications seeking permission for establishment of schools to the competent authority within 60 days. The competent authority will grant temporary permission only for the academic year 2010-2011 subject to fulfilling the conditions furnished by the state government before closure of the academic year 2010-2011.

The private schools managements should pay application fee without late fee, deposit endowment fund, and have provision of adequate accommodation, safe drinking water and sanitary facilities. The schools should furnish the certificate of structural soundness of the building including grills on balconies of the school building, and also should have adequate fire safety equipments as suggested by the Fire Service Department.
