Temple at the entrance of APPSC office

Hyderabad, November 09: Government offices’ image is secular. While all Indian citizens should be treated equally, today a particular community symbols are being displayed in almost all offices even in police stations. Avoiding raising an issue of faith resulted in a situation that the construction of temples has been started in these offices.

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission too permitted the construction of a temple at its office entrance violating the articles 14, 15 and 29 of Indian constitution. APPSC which is a constitutional institution comprises of 350 employees of which 9 percent are Muslims and 13 percent are Christians.

Employees of the commission Saleem and Daniel Desouza have complained in a letter to the governor, chief minister, chief secretary, Minority Welfare Minister, Hyderabad MP, floor leader Majlis and Minorities employees welfare association that Chairman commission, members and secretary are working as the agents of a particular community and they have forgotten the real purpose of the Indian constitution and government.

It was said in the statement that APPSC was a government institution which was not related to a particular religion inspite of that the present commission wanted to paint it with saffron colour.

There are thousands of educated youth belonging to different religions who come to the commission office for information about recruitments etc. Installing an idol at the entrance of the public commission would give a wrong signal that justice would not be done to those who would not honour a particular religion.
