At a time when the fundamentalists trying to polarized the country, a temple in Kerala sets an example of communal harmony.
According to reports Shiva temple at Puthennada near Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram district stopped offering pujas for two days after a Muslim man, closely associated with the temple, got lynched by a mob.
23-year-old Shabeer was an executive member of the Puthennada temple committee. Last Sunday, he was beaten up by a mob over a dispute for letting an elephant run amok in the area. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Listening to death of Shabeer, Shiva temple, which holds five pujas a day, did not offer them for two days after the morning darshan.
“It was a friendship beyond religion. Shabeer was the most active member in our committee”, said N Unni, another member of the executive committee.
According to Indian express Shabeer quit his degree course to work as a construction worker to provide living for his family after his father left.
Shabeer who was struggling to support his mother and two younger, school-going brothers, was used to help people in their problems.
