Temperatures in Telangana plummet, Adilabad registers 4 degree C

Hyderabad, January 8: Severe cold conditions prevailed in the state, particularly in Telangana region as the temperatures dipped to a chilling 4 degree Celsius for first time this winter season.

According to Met Department officials, the temperature in Adilabad district registered a sub-normal 4 degrees Celsius while Nizamabad recorded 4.4 degrees Celsius for the first time.

The officials said the temperatures in Medak, Nizamabad and Rentachintala in Telangana plummeted to minimum levels because easterly winds were blowing over Telangana region.

The minimum temperatures significantly dipped at a few places over Telangana– Adilabad, Karminagar, Hyderabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad and Rayalaseema regions and changed little over Coastal Andhra.

Meanwhile the temperature in the capital had plummeted to 8.03 degree Celsius on Wednesday, but a slight rise on Thursday with the temperature hovering around 9 degrees Celsius, leaving a chill in air.
The officials stated that the temperatures are likely to drop further in the coming days due to the cold northern winds blowing towards south. The cold wave conditions continue to occur over Telangana during next two nights.
