Telugu Talli flyover to be closed for a week

Hyderabad, August 09: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up repairs to the wearing coat at 10 badly distressed expansion joints on the Telugu Talli Flyover. Traffic will not be allowed to move on the flyover for the next one week.

The wearing coat adjacent to a few expansion joints has bulged and is causing inconvenience to traffic. The Lok Ayuktha have taken up suo-motu case and directed the GHMC to undertake early repairs. In compliance with the direction of the Lok Ayukta the repairs to the wearing coat at 10 badly distressed expansion joints have been identified and are being attended now. The work involves removing the distressed portion of concrete in wearing coat at expansion joints and replacing the same with micro-concrete with epoxy bonding agent. Micro-concrete is a free flow concrete which has resistance to shrinkage and gains early strength and is preferred for such repair and restoration works. The work is programmed to be completed in a week’s time and traffic will be allowed soon after.

The Telugu Talli flyover, connecting the Secretariat and Lower Tank Bund flying over the Necklace Road-Secretariat junction and the Tank Bund-Liberty junction, was constructed by the erstwhile Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) at an approximate cost of Rs 14 crore and was thrown open to traffic in January 2005.
