Hyderabad, May 23: Noted Telugu film lyricist and national award winner Veturi Sundrarama Murthy, who created magic through his lyrics for more than three decades, died of cardiac arrest at a corporate hospital here last night. He was 74. He is survived by four sons, a daughter and his wife.
Born in Kollur in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on January 29, 1936, Veturi was bestowed with the national film award as the best song writer for the film ‘ Mathru Devo Bhava’.
An ardent votary of Telugu language, Veturi started his carrier as a journalist in the prominent Telugu daily ‘Andhra Patrika’ and made his debut in Telugu film industry as a lyricist in the film ‘O Seetha Kadha.’ He penned down thousands of Telugu film songs, picturised on yesteryear stars like NT Rama Rao, A Nageswara Rao to recent Allu Arjun. Veturi wrote both literary classic and mass commercial songs.
All leading Telugu film personalities have condoled his death.
