Telugu encyclopaedia becomes part of wedding inv

Vijayawada, March 03: While most spend thousands of rupees on marriage invitation cards, a 20-year-old charted accountant from Odisha has made her brother’s wedding invitation in a Pedda Bala Siksha book, a Telugu encyclopedia, to give an unforgettable gift to her Telugu relatives.

Kotini Dharmaraju, an industrialist living in Berhampur in Ganjam district of Odisha has many Telugu relatives and all his family members speak Telugu fluently.

Recently the family arranged the marriage of their son Pavan, managing director, World Financial Company in Richmond, USA to Madhuri, who is from Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh on March 20.

Pavan’s younger cousin sister Vaishnavi came up with the idea to make the invitation card by enveloping it in a Pedda Bala Siksha book to distribute it to all their Telugu relatives.

Speaking over the phone from Berhampur, Vaishnavi said she was in Guntur for a year for CA coaching, when she recognised the Telugu people’s respect for Pedda Bala Siksha and how the book was useful as an encyclopedia.

She said her family members agreed to the proposal and they approached a writer and publisher of the Pedda Bala Siksha, Gajula Satynarayana and 300 invitation cards were being printed in the city. Vaishnavi, who got all-India rank of 21 in ICWA Intermediate exams, said 25 wedding invitations were sent to their relatives in the USA.

What further motivated her to pick up the idea was that other invitation cards are generally forgotten or thrown away after the marriage ceremony, but this unique gift of a Pedda Bala Siksha would be treasured by her relatives.

Vaishnavi said all relatives were really impressed by her novel idea.

Gajula Satyanarayana said, “My aim is to bring the book to more Telugu people living in the country and abroad.

These novel ideas will give more recognition to the book.”
