Hyderabad: To make the Makar Sankranti festival adventurous, the Telangana Tourism Department is organizing a Sankranti Air Show and National Para-motoring Championship from January 13 to 17 at Mini Tank Bund in Mahabubnagar.
Speaking to the reporters on Tuesday, Tourism Minister V. Srinivas Goud said, “There will be adventure sports including para-motors, skydiving, hot air balloons and RC drones at five days event to be held in Mahabubnagar.”
Goud further told that the event will commence with the National Paramotoring Championship 2021 and then proceeds towards Sankranti Air Show.
Every year there used to be an international kite show at Secunderabad parade grounds, but this year no show will be held. “The tourism department planned to hold at Secunderabad parade grounds, but authorities denied permission for various reasons. Hence, Mahabubnagar was selected for National Para-motoring Championship 2021 and Sankranti Air Show,” the minister said.
As many as 20 professional pilots who had represented India at the world Paramotoring Championship, Thailand will be participating in the National Paramotoring Championship 2021 at Mahabubnagar.
The entry is free and to enjoy rides visitors need to pay Rs. 1500 for a 10-minute para- motoring activity and Rs.500 for a Hot Air Balloon joy ride. They will be accompanied and guided by expert teams from takeoff to safe-landing. Adventure sports enthusiasts, aviation lovers, students, and youth can experience the spirit of para-motoring as a sport, the Minister added.
