Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s plan to augment solar power capacity in the state has got a big push with as many as 184 companies showing interest in the tenders floated by the government.
The government called tenders two months ago for producing 2,000 MW of solar energy and 184 companies came forward to set up plants to produce electricity by harnessing light and heat from the sun, an official release said today.
In the wake of encouraging response, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed that the number of proposed plants be increased, it added.
Setting up of solar plants with 800 MW capacity are already underway and the government would get power from them from March, next year. Power from the proposed plants would be available in another year from then, the release said.
