Hyderabad, January 21:The Telangana Women Joint Action Committee has resolved to percolate its activities to the remote, mandal and district levels and strengthen its base as a part of its efforts to intensify the struggle for achieving the decades’ long dream of separate Telangana State.
The resolution was arrived at in the wake of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee report, the ambivalence of political parties in respect of formation of Telangana State and the deployment of paramilitary forces on a large scale in the region, said the convenor, Ms M Ratnamala, while speaking to the media, here on Thursday.
Speaking about the future action plans of TWJAC, Ms Ratnamala said that they would form district committees and hold district conventions; organise meetings to mobilise women across the colleges, offices and industries in Hyderabad and other cities for the movement to achieve Telangana State and exert pressure on all the political parties to table a Bill in Parliament for creation of Telangana State.
Ms Ratnamala also demanded that the process of forming Telangana State should begin forthwith in compliance with the December 9, 2009 announcement by the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, and withdraw the paramilitary forces deployed across the region after the submission of the Srikrishna Committee Report.
The co-convenors, Ms Allam Padma, Ms G Padma, Ms Shiraj Khan, Ms G Varalakshmi, Dr Sulochana and Ms Azizunnisa Begum, were present.
