Telangana Women get 35% quota in Police dept

Taking women security as first priority and it putting high on the agenda of his government, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announces 35 per cent of jobs in the police department would be reserved for women.

“We will ensure that the police department will have 35 per cent of women staff”, KCR said during the TS-iPASS launch here on Friday. He also said that 1.1 lakh surveillance cameras would be installed across the city.

“Safety of women is the top priority. There were suggestions that the government must set up only women police stations. But the idea is not up to the mark. The mixed model would work well.

n order to put a check on growing number of offences against women like eve-teasing, harassment and stalking of girls and women and rape cases in the State, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday announced the launch of 181 toll-free emergency number.
