TRS leader Dharamapuri Srinivas took charge as the Special Advisor to Telangana Government for Inter-State Affairs at the State Secretariat here on Friday.
Speaking to media persons later, Srinivas said as the new State Telangana needs to take some immediate measures to improve its relationship with neighbouring States. He said Telangana has several disputes with its immediate neighbour Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, there are several disputes with Karnataka and Maharashtra over irrigation projects. Likewise, Chattisgarh is an important State for Telangana in terms of energy needs. He said a concentrated approach would be adopted to improve the relationship with all the neighbouring States.
Describing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as a great visionary, Srinivas said he joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi after KCR gave four different presentations on his vision for development of Telangana. He said he would play an active role in realising KCR’s dream of Bangaru Telangana.
Srinivas refused to comment on criticism against him by the Congress leaders. He said he had served the Congress party for over four decades and achieved the top position purely on his ability. He said he had played a key role in bringing the party to power for two consecutive terms. However, the Congress party did not do justice with him. (INN)
