Telangana will have five more new Medical colleges

In what could be called a major boost to medical education,Telangana Government proposes to establish one medical college each in five districts in the next five years. The medical colleges will come up in Nalgonda, Medak, Karimangar, Mahbubnagar and Khammam districts.

According to sources in the directorate of medical education, the government plans to make the proposal in such a way that five colleges get approval in a span of three years from the MCI.

Rajaiah, who is also holding medical and health portfolio, said the TRS government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for establishing a university for health sciences in the state, which is named as Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, in Warangal, he said.

On answering to a question that MCI did not give permission for starting up new colleges due to lack of required infrastructure and refused to increase seats in a few private medical colleges in the state, the minister said that “the land allotments, procurement of funds and infrastructure would be handed over to the MCI” once the state finance department gives its nod.
