Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy informed the State Legislative Assembly on Sunday that Telangana State would get an additional power of 5880 MW by 2018-19.
Replying to a question raised by MLA V. Prashant Kumar and other MLAs during Question Hour, the minister said that the Telangana State has taken up capacity addition of generation comprising of 5880 MW Thermal by GENCO and 360 MW Hydel in the next three years by TSGENCO apart from 2500 MWs (approximately) of solar power in the private sector and 1800 MW by SCCL and 4000 MW by NTPC to meet the future power requirement in the State.
Furnishing the details, he said 1080 MW Bhadradri Thermal Power projects costs Rs. 7,290.60 Cr; 800 Kothagudem Thermal Power costs Rs. 5548.44 Cr and 400 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station would cost around Rs. 25,099.42 Cr. Overall, the State would spend Rs. 37,938.46 Crore to add 5,880 MW. He said that the TSGENCO has taken these power projects after formation of Telangana State. While Bhadradri Plant (4×270 MW) is expected to begin commercial operations in 2016-17, Kothagudem Station (Stage VII – 1x800MW) is likely to start in 2017-18 and Yadadri Station (5×800 MW) in 2018-19.
