Hyderabad, Aug 15 (IANS) Actress and Bharatanatyam dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar, who performed at the inaugural ceremony of the Telangana temple festival here on Saturday, said such initiatives will help people admire the rich cultural heritage.
Rukmini along with her dance company Raadha Kalpa enthralled audiences with a 90-minute production called “Prabhavati: The Story of an Asura Princess”, inspired by 16th century Telugu poet Pingali Suranna’s work “Prabhavati Pradyumnamu”, based on a story from the Mahabharata.
About her visit to Hyderabad and performing at the temple festival, Rukmini said: “Hyderabad is a city full of vibrant festivals, theatre and dance performances.
“The temple festival by the Telangana heritage trust, in my opinion, will widen the rich art, cultural heritage admiration of beautiful dance form Bharatanatyam, and admiration of other art styles in the city even further.”
