Telangana-TDP to quit JAC?

Hyderabad, February 20: Is Telugu Desam Party also planning to follow the footsteps of the Congress Party and part with the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC)? TDP seems to have no such ‘immediate’ plans to quit the JAC as it is willing to work with all parties to achieve separate Statehood for Telangana.

TD Legislative Party Deputy Floor Leader N Janardhan Reddy hinted that the TDP MLAs from Telangana region are in two minds on the issue. Reacting to the announcement made by Telangana Congress MLAs, Janardhan Reddy said that Telugu Desam is still a part of the TJAC.

“We have no such immediate plans and took no specific decision on this (quitting JAC) issue. We want all parties to join hands to get separate Statehood for Telangana. However, the issue will be discussed with JAC convener Kondandaram before taking a final decision,’’ said Janardhan Reddy.

A delegation of Telangana TDP MLAs led by Janardhan Reddy today called on Chief Minister K Rosaiah and submitted a representation requesting him to lift all cases registered against students and also journalists since December 9. The TDP MLAs stated that the State Government should lift all the cases abiding by the announcement made by the Central Government on December 9. They wanted the Government to issue orders instructing the police to show maximum restraint with students. They also appealed to students to maintain peace and conduct their protests without any violence.

The Chief Minister is learnt to have assured to look into the issue.
