Telangana TDP MLAs reiterate support

Hyderabad, January 04: Telangana TDP MLAs have made it clear that their party was firm on its Telangana stand and would support any move in favour of Statehood for Telangana.

At a press conference here today, TDP legislators N Janardhan Reddy, M Narasimhulu, P Mahendar Reddy and KS Rathnam refuted the reports in a section of media that the party made a U turn on its Telangana commitment and was going to support United State.

N Janardhan Reddy stated that TD had proposed resignation of all the MLAs from the region and joined the political Joint Action Committee. “We have even met Chief Minister yesterday to seek permission for the `Vidyarthi Garjana,’ he pointed out.

On the occasion of the meet in Osmania University, Reddy informed, the party leaders were monitoring the situation right from the morning and spoke with Superintendents of Police of various districts to allow students to participate in the public meeting.

“We have done our bit to see that the meeting becomes a success,’’ he said.

The TD deputy floor leader in the Assembly stated that his personality could not be doubted as he was arrested in the Telangana movement in 1969 and even went to prison. He alleged that it was the Congress party, which had betrayed the movement. “Even though I was beaten up on the Osmania campus I asked the police not to register cases against students and did not seek their apology,’’ Reddy recalled.

Reacting to a query, whether Chandrababu Naidu would continue to be party president if the State was divided? Reddy stated that in that case Telugu Desam would become a national party and could change its name to
