Telangana supporters besiege houses of ministers

Hyderabad, January 09: For the second consecutive day, protests, rasta rokos, dharnas and storming of the residences of ministers and elected reps continued in the region today. Telangana supporters demanded that ministers, legislators and MPs from the Congress and TDP must quit their posts and force a constitutional crisis to exert pressure on the state and Union governments on the T issue.

Traffic on national and state higways came to a grinding halt at several places in the region. Leaders and activists from all political parties barring the Congress and TDP took part in the protests. The agitators also demanded withdrawal of paramilitary forces from the region and lifting of restrictions on the media.

In Mandamarri in Adilabad district, Chennur MLA Nallala Odelu led the protests. TJAC leaders and media representatives held dharnas in Adilabad, Utnoor and Kagaznagar.

In Medak district, TRS students wing and ABVP activists stormed the residences of Narayankhed MLA P Kistareddy, TDP MLA M Hanumanth Rao’s camp office and the residence of former MLA P Sashidhar Reddy in Medak.

In Warangal district, TRS and BJP leaders and activists organised protests acorss the district. Kakatiya University Students JAC members tried to lay siege to the houses of ministers P Laxmaiah, B Saraiah and DCC president G Venkatramana Reddy.
