Telangana supporter battling for life

Karimnagar, July 9: A degree student, who attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze for the cause of Telangana here on Thursday night, is battling for life.
As his condition turned critical, he was shifted from Karimnagar hospital to MGM Hospital at Warangal late on Friday. He suffered 70 per cent burns, said Dr Naga Prasad.
According to police, the student, Erroju Abhinash (26), a resident of Tirumalanagar in the town, reached Indira cross-roads at around 11.30 p.m., doused himself in petrol and lit a matchstick. Seeing the youngster, police, who were on patrol duty, immediately doused the flames and shifted him to Karimnagar government hospital.
For the last few days, Abhinash was actively participating in the Telangana movement. He took part in the students’ rally taken out here following a call by the TJAC on Thursday.
On hearing about the suicide bid, Karimnagar SP V Ravinder and OSD (crime) DV Srinivasa Rao rushed to the hospital and enquired about Abhinash’s health.
Later, speaking to mediapersons, the SP said they found a suicide note in Abhinash’s notebook which stated he was taking the extreme step for the T cause.
In the note, he also expressed his frustration over the delay in the formation of Telangana by the Congress despite mass resignations by more than 100 elected representatives.
