Telangana statehood issue continues to rock AP Assembly

Hyderabad, Feruary 22: The contentious Telangana issue continued to paralyse the Andhra Pradesh Assembly as the TRS members today disrupted its proceedings demanding a resolution on statehood to the region.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs disrupted proceedings during the evening session, specially convened to discuss the fee reimbursement issue, forcing Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to adjourn the House without transacting any business.

Two adjournments failed to bring order in the Assembly forcing the Deputy Speaker, who was in the Chair, to end the day’s session.

Holding placards and raising slogans demanding that the House adopt a resolution seeking statehood for Telangana, the TRS lawmakers stood right in front of the Speaker’s chair blocking his view. One BJP MLA, too, joined the protest.
