Telangana State to have six new medical colleges: KCR

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has said that the state government will establish six new medical colleges in Sanga Reddy, Jagtiyal, Kothagudem, Wanaparty, Mancherial and Mahboobabad districts. The CM instructed the health department that the nursing colleges should also be established alongside the medical colleges. KCR also said government medical colleges which do not have nursing college should establish nursing colleges.

The state government took this decision in view of the shortage of doctors and para medical staff reported in many government hospitals.

Chief Minister along with the state ministers and officials reviewed COVID-19 situation in the state at the Pragati Bhavan.

In order to provide better medical facilities to the people, the chief minister directed the officials to establish 12 regional sub centres in places like Siddipet, Wanaparthy, Mahbubabad, Suryapet, Nagarkurnol, Bhongir, Kothagudem, Gadwal, Vikarabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Bhopalpally. He instructed the officials to provide every medical needs and equipment to these centres on a war footing note.

CM added that they can also be provided with vehicles for supply of the medical essentials and provide cold storage facilities.

The chief minister suggested that COVID-19 treatment should also be undertaken in Singareni, RTC, CISF and Railways hospitals.
