Telangana to soon see various developments, welfare measures: Governor

Telangana [India]: The budget session of Telangana Legislature began today, with Governor ESL Narasimhan promising that the state will not face any power cuts during the summer.

“Last month, the demand for power touched an all-time high of 9000MW and the government succeeded in ensuring uninterrupted power supply. The power generation capacity at the time of formation of Telangana state in June 2014 was 6574MW, the government has added generation capacity of 4190MW during the last two and a half years and another 4190MW will be added during the current year,” said Narasimhan.

Narasimhan further spoke about how to make Telangana a power surplus state as the power sector had a very important role to play in the progress and prosperity in the state.

“The total power availability in the state will reach 16306MW by the end of next three years. This will include 1000MW power purchased from Chattisgarh and 3727MW from solar generation. The completion of Wardah-Dichpalli transmission line will also enable the state to tap 2000MW through northern grid from anywhere in the country as and when required,” he added.

Opposition Congress party members staged a noisy walkout from the House during the governor’s address.

They were protesting against the absence of any mention of two bedroom houses for the poor, three acres of land to the poor SC and ST families and 12 per cent reservation for Muslims and ST and a sub plan for backward classes.
