Telangana ‘sentiment’ triumphs in Andhra bypoll

Hyderabad, July 30: The “sentiment” has won in Telangana.

Those who sacrificed their (MLA) posts for the cause of a separate state have earned the “sympathy” and redeemed their seats with thumping majorities in the 12 constituencies that went for by-polls in the region.

That the victors as well as the losers attributed their victory or defeat to the “strong Telangana sentiment” only signifies this factor.

On the face of it, Telangana Rashtra Samiti’s victory in almost 11 seats may appear resounding. But, in actual terms, it stood to gain only one seat through the by-elections ? taking its 2009 tally of 10 to 11 now.

The real loss in the bypolls was for main opposition Telugu Desam Party which had to forego the lone Vemulawada seat it won in 2009.
